What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small, strong post that serves as a replacement for the root part of a missing tooth. Acting as a sturdy foundation, this post is surgically placed into the jawbone beneath the gum line. Once in place, it allows your dentist to mount replacement teeth or a bridge into that area. Dental implants don't come loose like dentures can, offering a more permanent solution. They are designed to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, both in function and appearance, providing a durable and discreet solution for missing teeth.

All-On-4 Dental Implants

An advanced solution for replacing a full arch of teeth using only four implants. This technique involves strategically placing four titanium implants in the jaw, which then support a full set of prosthetic teeth. The result provides a natural look and feel while significantly reducing treatment and recovery time.

Implant Retained Dentures

Also known as snap on dentures, these are a type of overdenture that, unlike traditional methods, are supported by and attached to implants. This method offers a more secure and comfortable fit, as the dentures snap onto the implants integrated into the jawbone, preventing slipping and enhancing chewing ability.

Dentures are custom-crafted dental appliances designed to replace missing teeth and restore the natural appearance and functionality of your smile. They are made to precisely fit your mouth, ensuring comfort and improving your ability to eat and speak easily. Modern dentures are more natural-looking and comfortable than ever before.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a durable and long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth, designed to mimic the look, feel, and function of natural teeth. This advanced dental technology not only enhances your smile aesthetically - it also preserves jawbone health and even serves to improves overall oral function.

Who Are Dental Implants For?

Dental implants offer a versatile and effective solution for a wide range of dental needs, making them suitable for virtually everyone looking for a permanent fix to missing teeth. Whether you're facing the challenges of a single missing tooth, multiple teeth, or looking for a more stable alternative to traditional dentures, dental implants can provide a reliable and long-lasting solution.

Older Adults with Multiple Missing Teeth

For older adults experiencing multiple missing teeth, dental implants offer a stable and comfortable alternative to traditional dentures. Unlike dentures that rest on gums and can slip or cause discomfort, implants provide a secure base, reducing the risk of bone loss and preserving facial structure. This can significantly improve not only the aesthetics of one’s smile but also the overall quality of life, making eating and speaking more comfortable and natural.

Young professionals who have lost one or more teeth due to injury, decay, or other reasons may find dental implants an ideal choice. As a long-term investment in their oral health, implants provide a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution that doesn't disrupt their busy lifestyles. The reliability and low maintenance of implants mean they can continue to present themselves confidently in both professional and social settings without the worry of denture-related issues.

Individuals who currently wear dentures but struggle with discomfort, slippage, or maintenance might find dental implants a transformative solution. Implants can anchor full or partial dentures, providing a level of stability and comfort that traditional dentures cannot match. This can greatly enhance the wearer's confidence and ease in everyday activities like eating, speaking, and smiling, making them feel more secure in their daily interactions.

The Three Types of Dentures

A dental professional can make you one of three types of dentures depending on your situation: complete, immediate, or partial. A complete denture is used when all teeth either on the upper or lower arch have been lost. Partial dentures are used in situations where only some teeth on an arch are missing.

Full permanent denture

A full, permanent denture will be placed after the loss or extraction of teeth on an arch after the hard (bone) and soft (gum) tissue has had time to completely heal. You may also have options as to the type of permanent denture is best for you. You and your dentist will discuss what type of denture will be best for you.

Immediate denture

Immediate dentures are used for situations where all teeth on an arch are extracted and are delivered to you on the same day. Impressions will be taken prior to the appointment for the extractions and dentures are fabricated by a laboratory. Immediate dentures keep you from having to go without teeth while waiting for the tissues to heal and waiting for the permanent denture to be made.

Partial denture

Partial dentures are a little different from a complete denture. A partial denture is used when not all teeth on an arch are missing. Partial dentures are a removable option, just like a full denture, but are also an alternative to having implants placed. You doctor will discuss with you if a partial/partial denture is the right option for you.
